Data Security and Protection Toolkit
The Data Security and Protection Toolkit replaces the previous Information Governance toolkit from April 2018. As a care provider, it shows you what you need to do to keep people’s information safe, and to protect your business from the risk of a data breach or a cyber attack. It covers both paper and digital records. And it reassures everyone you work with that you are taking data security seriously.
The Data Security and Protection Toolkit is an online self-assessment tool that enables organisations to measure and publish their performance against the National Data Guardian’s ten data security standards.
All organisations that have access to NHS patient data and systems must use this toolkit to provide assurance that they are practising good data security and that personal information is handled correctly.
All CQC-registered care providers should complete the DSPT at least once a year. The deadline for 2021/22 is 30 June 2022.
The DSPT can open up real opportunities. For example, you must have completed the DSPT if you: deliver services under an NHS contract; use a shared health and care records system; or you are applying for NHSmail.
Care providers who are not CQC registered can also use the DSPT to check and improve that data and cyber security arrangements.
Safeguarding Adults Board – new Strategic Plan – have your say!
The North Lincolnshire SAB are in the process of developing a new Strategic Plan, the plan lays out shared goals and priorities for the coming three years, and details how partners will work together to help and protect adults with care and support needs, who are at risk of abuse and neglect.
The views and experiences of those with a lived experience and the workforce are really important to us, in helping to shape our future priorities for adult safeguarding within North Lincolnshire.
I would be grateful if you could please take a few moments to complete the short Teams questionnaire (before Friday 17 June 2022), identifying areas which you feel are key areas of focus for safeguarding adults over the next three years. The questionnaire should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.
Please disseminate the link below within your teams and share as you feel appropriate.

Enhanced health in care homes framework refresh regional workshop – 14 June
NORTH EAST & YORKSHIRE
14th JUNE, 10:00 – 11:30
Have your say on the Enhanced Health in Care Homes Framework.
We would like to invite you to share your thoughts on what we can improve and add to the Enhanced Health in Care Homes (EHCH) Framework.
The NHS Long-Term Plan made a commitment to the national roll out of the Enhanced Health in Care Homes (EHCH) framework to all care homes in England by 2024. A key priority for the EHCH programme this year is to refresh the framework to ensure we capture the different ways of working that the pandemic enabled and best practice from these changes; and to ensure recommended best practice in the framework is up to date.
