Modern Day Slavery: An Interactive Workshop for the Humber VCSE – Monday 17th July 2023, 1:00pm
Join us for an eye – opening event, Modern Day Slavery: An Interactive Workshop for the Humber VCSE, on Monday 17th July 2023 at 1:00pm. This event will take place in person at Meadow Road, Hessle, HU13 0GD.
Over the past two decades, modern slavery in the UK has risen exponentially, from a few thousand victims at the turn of the millennium, to an estimated 122,000 today (Global Slavery Index, 2023).This interactive workshop session will consider scale and form of modern slavery and importantly, its causes, globally and nationally. It will critically evaluate current UK government approaches to modern slavery, and the effects of these on some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
In this session we will work together to discuss our current approach and understanding of modern slavery in our region, and how we might work together to tackle this issue.
This session will be delivered by Andrew Smith, Manager, ACTion to Combat Modern Slavery Justice Hub and Coordinator, Humber Modern Slavery Partnership.
