Personal Assistant

Personal Assistant required for young man with an ASD diagnosis who likes gaming, cats and playing the piano. He lives alone and would like support to socialise and exercise. He may also require help in the home and to do errands etc.

10 hours per week (days and times are flexible and can be discussed at interview)

£12.21 per hour rising to new national minimum wage in April 2026

DBS check required

About the role / duties and responsibilities to support with:

– household chores and general homemaking
– attending appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors
– food shopping
– looking after/care for pets
– getting to and from school/work/college/social activities
– accessing sporting and leisure activities
– encouraging socialisation, participating in activities, friendships and independence
– developing a good and trusting one to one working relationship
– managing paperwork and correspondence
– gardening

Skills required:

– Car driver preferred but not essential

– be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual

– maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the role

– able to work on own initiative

– able to follow instructions accurately

– be patient, supportive and caring

– have good listening skills and be able to provide non-judgemental emotional support

– be empathetic

– previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals
