Job Purpose
To be responsible for the well-being of residents within the Home, ensuring that their physical, emotional and social needs are met, whilst helping them to achieve their full capabilities. To ensure the safe, smooth and efficient running of the Nursing Home in accordance with the policies of the Company and the registering Authority guidelines.
Principal Accountabilities and Activities
· Act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
· To assess the individual needs of residents and ensure that they receive the highest standards of holistic care and attention.
· To participate fully in the overall care of residents as per the care plan. Assisting in the assessments, risk assessments, care planning, reviews and evaluating care plans accordingly.
· Maintaining residents and relatives are integral and included in the planning of care.
· To give guidance and training to other staff, including new staff on induction and to provide clinical support as required.
· To be involved with residents’ activities both in and out of the Home and encourage leisure pursuits accordingly.
· To assist in maintaining safe levels of care, monitoring standards of care and ensuring safe practice.
· To assist in the maintenance of accurate records in accordance with registration and legal requirements.
· To advise the General Practitioner, health care professionals including emergency services of any concern regarding residents and keep him/her informed of their condition.
· To help deploy staff efficiently in relation of duties to be covered.
· To be responsible for the safe administration, recordings, storage and ordering of drugs in accordance with company policy.
· To supervise closely all duties involved with seriously ill residents, liaising with families and chosen contacts.
· To assist in the maintenance of a Safe and Healthy Working Environment.
· Duty to whistle blow if witness bad practice or harm to a resident within the home in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
· Duty to inform Home Manager if NMC commence investigation into practice
· Carry out appraisals, supervisions, reviews, well-being meetings with staff, identifying and training and development needs.
· To work with development plans for individuals and the staff team that lessons learnt have identified and support these to improve the care delivery and the service.
Qualifications, Training and Experience
· ENB 998 and/or ENB 941
· Registered Nurse.
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to motivate and delegate effectively.
· Understanding of social care model.

All staff should bear in mind the overall objectives of the Home, namely that Residents will be encouraged to maintain independence and choice in a homely environment which promotes excellent customer relationships.
