Movember Campaign 2023 – Mental health and cancer awareness campaign
Around the world, men are dying too young and largely from preventable reasons. This is why our Public Health team are working with partners to shine a spotlight on men’s health this Movember to help men live happier, healthier, and longer lives. So, whether you’re a Mo-Bro, Mo-Sister, or Mo-Pal, let’s unite for greater men’s health awareness and find out more about what is going on in North Lincolnshire to support awareness around key Movember topics of prostate and testicular cancer, and details of men’s local mental wellbeing support…
Cancer awareness sessions:
Our partners in health over at Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance are supporting Movember by offering FREE access to short online awareness sessions about prostate and testicular cancers for anyone living or working in Humber and North Yorkshire region (this includes North Lincolnshire residents).
A variety of session dates and times are available to attend online throughout November. To book, please visit: Movember – men’s cancer awareness Tickets, Multiple Dates | Eventbrite
If you have any queries or questions about this, please contact the Cancer Champions Team at: hny.cancerchampions@nhs.net
Men’s mental health and wellbeing support:
One of Movember’s key focus areas is to look at mental health through a male lens focusing on prevention, early intervention and health promotion, to work towards a world where men take action to be mentally well, and are supported by those around them to do so.
Our Public Health team have been busy collating together a handy directory focussed on areas that may impact upon men’s mental health and wellbeing, to provide a useful resource to draw upon for signposting and raising awareness of the local support out there that could be helpful for anyone to use and know about. For more information, please refer to the document attached in this email.
Free suicide prevention training:
The Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership is offering suicide prevention training to key local community members such as barbers, hairdressers, tattooists, taxi drivers, hospitality workers and more.
For more information about the training and to book your free space, please visit: Suicide Prevention Training – Mind HEY – Hull & East Yorkshire Mind (heymind.org.uk)
Grow a Mo:
Our Public Health team are proudly joining in the fun of the Movember movement by growing, creating, designing and donning moustaches, and have produced a Movember video available on YouTube: North Lincolnshire Council supports Movember – YouTube
Don’t forget to share your Movember photos with us, and let us know you are taking part. Please email your pictures to: helen.whitelam@northlincs.gov.uk with the details of your workplace and team name/area.
