Helping reablement services boost user engagement and patient outcomes – FREE webinar by SCIE

Join SCIE on Tuesday 10th September 2024, 11am-12pm, as they launch a new practical resource to support reablement services in delivering better outcomes for people who need reablement support, their families and social care staff.
Reablement services play an important role in helping older people regain their independence following a hospital discharge. However, poor engagement by older people and their families is often a major barrier to the success of this intervention.
To overcome this issue, researchers at the University of York have developed a new practical resource to support reablement services in overcoming key challenges that impact user engagement. These include poor understanding of reablement among referring agencies, older people and their families, a lack of support from family members, and aspects of service delivery. SCIE will be publishing this resource during their webinar.

Sent on behalf of Public Health Manager – Mental Health & Wellbeing & Suicide Prevention
To mark World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) on Tuesday 10th September, we are delighted to share our WSPD Newsletter that highlights our upcoming activities planned which includes our Walk for Hope that takes place at Central Park at 5.15pm on the 10th of September followed by a Candle Vigil on WSPD that takes place at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre at 6.30pm. Please see poster and the link to book on the  Candle vigil(see attachments at the top of this email)   https://www.tickettailor.com/events/northlincolnshirecouncil/1326400
North Lincolnshire Public Health Suicide Prevention Programme has organised a number of training events that will take place on and around the 10th of September and also throughout the month to raise awareness of Suicide Prevention and Mental Health & Wellbeing.
The theme for WSPD 2024 is “Changing the Narrative on Suicide”. The aim is to raise awareness about the importance of changing the narrative surrounding suicide and transforming how we perceive this complex issue. The importance of the language we use when we talk about suicide – especially when asking someone you’re worried about if they’re suicidal.
Suicide prevention can be an extremely difficult conversation to approach, but it is for that very reason that conversations around suicide need to be started.
Suicide prevention is everyone’s business, anyone can be affected by suicide and everyone can help prevent further suicides. Each death by suicide has a profound impact on the people around that person and is a Public Health concern.
By raising awareness, reducing the stigma around suicide, and encouraging well-informed action, we can work towards reducing instances of suicides. Suicide is preventable and we can all play our part in making a difference.
Please find the Public Health North Lincolnshire Suicide Prevention mid-year report (January-June 2024) which summarises some of the key programmes of activities undertaken to raise awareness, reduce stigma around suicide prevention. There are a number of video links embedded within the presentation, including the, 3 Dads Walking,  ZeroSuicideSociety #JoinTheDotsTour Suicide prevention conference at Baths Hall and our Like Mind Concert at Barton Carnival.
Please share our WSPD newsletter, share posters with your networks and if you would like to find out more about the work carried out by the North Lincolnshire Suicide Prevention group , you can email farzana.khanum@northlincs.gov.uk .

Many Thanks
